Anyone has a fix it for not being able to buy old town dlc?

  2. R RobertBorg

    Ich habe immer wieder Abstütze.

  3. L Licenturion

Very disappointed in the developers and this official community site.

They are always doing 100 posts about everything Anno related here but when the game breaks and most people can’t even launch the game on Steam and Ubisoft Connect there is zero communication here after a week and no timeframe when this will be fixed.

At least Ubisoft Support confirmed on Steam is a big issue and is impacting a very large portion of the player base.

    •   Ubi-Thorlof

Hey Licenturion, we’re aware of the issues some of our players are facing since Game Update 16 last week.
While we unfortunately don’t have an ETA yet, yes, we do have communicated on the issue since last Friday on the official forums, Steam discussions, our social channels, the Known Issues Board on Trello and here on the website via a banner on the main page.
I understand the situation is frustrating right now (for us, too) and we hope to have a fix soon.

Seit wann ist musik aus 1404 in 1800 ?

  5. A Anthony86GH

Quality game shame as usual that the devs can’t be as quick to fix a game that no longer starts. Joke 4 days ive Been waiting to get on and nobody can awnser any questions as to why. Unbelievable

    • S Storkiez

If you got some mods going, just turn them off.
Helped me to start the game.

  6. S Storkiez

After playing 780 hours i am to embark on the next DLC, i am excited!
But please, don’t stop here, make the game complete and go for that massively requested Asia DLC.

Anyway, all the best to the team, you guys are doing a wonderfull job creating a game that got me hooked from the first second i played it.
After grewing up with 1602 i dindt expect still playing the same (improved) formula after almost 25 years!

All respect to the devs, bravo!

  7. i iznano4nik

  8. V Via4Uplay

The selected buildings move function is really really good. I’m worried that I might be disable to play city builders without it anymore

  9. C Castarune

Love the new update… BUT the music stops playing in the old world and Cape.. sound still plays… Music still play in other area’s .. what kind of bug is this ?????

    Hallo zusammen,

    Hello Guys!

I started a new game just to test it, and it crashes. While the game was still running, I noticed you’d made a complete overhaul of the building menu, and a mod user is blaming that for mod compatibility issues. I hope that is not the case, and if so, I hope it can be fixed.

I am a bit concerned because UBISOFT has not made any public announcements about a new update that would address the mod compatibility issue so far. Please don´t take me wrong, but I think it should have been considered all along the way during the update process since it is clear that there are thousands and thousands of mod users just by observing the general number of mod downloads.

I don’t really intend to start a new game to continue playing ANNO after the last GU because I’ve been playing an old saved game for years. My saved game has more than 6,200 hours. It is the exact same save game since the beginning, so I really hope I did not waste my time building more than 40 very detailed cities to see all the efforts and dedication go away! Thank you!

    • D Dave301287

Same here dude, we all love the game but this is frustrating
we did not really need a menu redesign or overhaul

      • S SerikaG

Yes we did.Old menu are not design for dozens of different buildings and ornaments.New menu are more straight , clear and more friendly to those who have unlocke many ornaments :).

        • f frasoucos

Yes, we did, right? Hum…. Wow!! I am just wondering on behalf of whom you are speaking. On your behalf or Ubisoft’s? The old construction menu was simple enough to use and could accommodate dozens of different buildings. I do not see the new menu as more straight or clear than the old one (I don’t know what you mean by that), even though I think it is indeed cleaner and attractive, and that is very fine : )

          • S SerikaG

Myself. Before update if i want to choose different ornament i have to scroll the culture tab back and forth for a thouthand times just to find a suitable trees.new menu allow me to quickly change different type of ornaments with a clear second tab menu.

      • f frasoucos

Hey Dave! I agree with you! I also think it was not necessary, as the old menu was working well with so many more building options given by mods, and it was easy to use too, in my view. On the other hand, I think the changes are not bad at all and are even welcome. Even though I raised the issue when reporting the game crashes, I think that it is probably not causing the incompatibility problems.

        • D Dave301287

we do welcome the changes, all changes have brought something new and beautiful, but not at the cost of compromising one’s save game.. Priorities man…

    • K KajiceJJK

I love the building menu overhaul, it’s great. And it’s the modders responsibility to fix their mods and make them work with updates. Lots of mods break after updates, that’s normal with any game. It’s not the dev’s responsibility to take care of mod compatibility.

      • f frasoucos

@ KajiceJJK I think it is all players’ right to point out to the game developer the issues they are facing, regardless of mod usage and UBISOFT’s policies toward it, and also irrespective of people’s or departments’ responsibilities, otherwise, it would not make any sense to have a forum to discuss technical issues and bugs. And before you start lecturing other players, I just want to let you know that I know well that UBISOFT has other, more appropriate channels to report the matter.

  12. f frasoucos

    Hello Guys!

I just wanted to let you know that, until a few hours ago, my game was crashing even without mods or the use of a mod loader.

Thank you!

    • S SerikaG

Dev have declared mods is not officially support many times.

If you are trying to play game with mods, you should try to test it by yourself.Keep an old savegame for future test, try to remove mods untill it is stable, then slowly add them back.Repeat untill all unstable mods is removed.

Or you can just wait for modders to update and add GU16 support

      • f frasoucos

@ SerikaG Oh gosh! … Where is the public relations department of Ubisoft? Is the person in charge of it on vacation? We all know what mods are, how they work, and the policies that apply to them, so there is no need to state the obvious. It seems to me that the Anno game and many Anno players, including me, have benefited tremendously from the modelers’ work, haven’t they? From my own experience, mod users are fairly knowledgeable about how to resolve mod incompatibility, so there is no need to inform us of what we already know. I am just curious: Are you an employee and officially speaking on behalf of the company? If so, I would say that I am surprised! I just think that if UBISOFT allows mods on its proprietary game, it should give it a bit more attention when updating it.

        • S SerikaG

Strange logic.I dont have to be one employee to express my point.

And firstly, benefit from modders work doesnt means official support. Also, allows mod doesnt means giving promise that everythings works after update.

Secondly, yes a mod user knows about mod incompatibility. And they also know the risk they are taking for heavily modded their game instead of complaning about dev doesnt care about mods and think other player who support dev are spys from game company.

My savegame works well after removing 3-4 questioned mods and most of them are about arctic, not about building menu. You can continue to be a delusional victim, or be pragmatic and try to solve the problem yourself

          • f frasoucos

There is no strange logic here! Most comments here are made by users, such as gamers like you, so obviously you do not have to be an employee to express yourself here. That is funny reasoning! I disagree with your points.

I think if so many gamers are playing mods, they do have the right to expect that the game works properly after updates. Why would they not expect it?

Nobody has ever said that the development team is uncaring, let alone complained about them. Your understanding of my statements is extrapolative, to say the least.

Aside from you, I don’t believe the dev team would take comments personally. The issue is not about Dev. Nobody is blaming anyone for anything. We all know that computer hardware and software are all prone to glitches. That is the reality of it. So no one is expecting promises, as you put it. We do expect a smooth updating process, with or without mods. Is that asking too much? I do not think so.

Why can’t we point out issues that are affecting the game’s playability here if that is the purpose of this website? On that note, what was said is that mod compatibility should be considered along the way with any project that will affect gamers’ experiences. That’s all!

I also disagree with the statement that people are taking a risk by “heavily modding their games” for one very simple reason. I do have several mods, and they were all working very well. With all due respect, I also do not think it is up to you to make any assessment about how many mods other players intend to use. You make your own decisions about the mods you choose to play, and you let other players make their own decisions, ok?!

I’m not sure what you meant when you said, “Think other players who support developers are spies from the game company.” Please, clarify that if you can.

My save games does not work well after removing a few or all mods for some reason. Nobody is playing the “delusional victim” by pointing out the technical issues we are facing. Hahahaha! That is another funny way of reasoning! But I am not quite sure if you are aware of the delusional thinking that one can tell others how to think or act.

        • S SerikaG

Your reply fully demonstrates your ignorance of MOD and version updates.

Requiring mod compatibility in 1800 means that 0 modifications to the original configuration properties, any modification will cause the original relevant part of the MOD to fail because the XML node cannot be found. In the development process, this is almost impossible. The introduction of new things always somehow change the original XML. The so-called “smooth updating process” is nonsense. BUGS need to be finded, tested and adjusted. The development team has no time and no obligation to ensure that a MOD not developed by them can run normally without any bugs or crashes, let alone adapt to so many versions from GU1 to GU16.
Besides, they can’t even promise the game wont have any serious bugs thats affected normal gameplay.

I also want to remind you that even for a game like Minecraft with such good mod support, the mods are developed based on a specific version, not cross version. Anno 1800 has shown a good “smooth updating process” by keeping most mods runnable after update.

Honestly I’m tired of arguing. You can continue to post your views, I am done replying here.

          • f frasoucos

You are quite right! I am really ignorant of MOD since I am not a mod creator and am not planning to become one or learn more about it! I am just a game player for ANNO 1800 and I am pretty happy with that so far!
By the way, thanks for the technical explanations, despite the unnecessary manners!
Asking for mod compatibility in the game updating process does not mean there must be zero modifications to the original configuration properties indefinitely, otherwise, we would not have so many versions, from G1 to G15, all with total mod compatibility reached in one way or another, am I right? Did I miss something here? Please tell me! So I suspect that a smooth updating process is not such nonsense after all, despite the hurdles that it may create at the beginning of a coordinated effort between the parties involved.
I must admit that I do not know how the update process in the company works, so clearly, I am in the dark here.
However, based on what you just said, I still do not see why it is almost impossible to fix the issue, and maybe the key word here is almost, am I wrong?
So, in your own words, “the introduction of new things always somehow changes the original XML.” You also believe that “the so-called “smooth updating process” is nonsense.” You also stated that “bugs need to be found, tested, and adjusted.” Well, I may still be missing something here, so please explain to me why this process of finding, testing, and adjusting cannot be done before the GU and new DLC releases, since it is well known that it is done after them anyway!
You can talk about responsibilities and time availability all you want, but compatibility issues will always be resolved, right? So, if another game has “such good mod support” within one version, is it too difficult and time-consuming to coordinate the updating process between the dev team and mod creators across versions of the game, or is it absolutely an impossible task? If so, please tell me why! I am just asking, and you do not need to become extraordinarily defensive!

Maybe Ubisoft could hire an extra manager and put him/her in charge of this and maybe another game updating process that involves mods. This way, it won’t overload anyone with tasks that are not their responsibility, and I think it is very fair for the dev team and game players. This is just a suggestion!

          • f frasoucos

By the way, just clarifying that a smooth updating process does not mean in any way a perfect, immaculate process, for obvious reasons.

  13. M MysterSnow

I can’t buy the DLC in the Ubisoft store as well, waiting for the problem to be resolved, so I can start a new game 😀

  14. t thekingkupo

Anyone experiencing unable to buy from ubisoft store? I can’t buy the old town dlc for some reason it just takes my card info and resets back to choosing which payment method.

  15. s sd808

I blocked my Anno from Win Firewall. No updates for me, thanks. And I won’t unblock-it until either

    a) mods will be updated
    or
    b) I start a new game

There is nothing more annoying than a 500h game where a major update is applied over.
Ubisoft _must_ allow players to choose if they apply the update or if they want to play a rollback version until a new game.

    peace!

  16. A Alister-MIV

The game stopped running at all. He doesn’t even show signs of life. (((

  17. f frasoucos

    Hello everyone from Ubisoft!

I hope this one finds you all well!

Thanks for the new GU and the last Old Town DLC release. I already bought it, and I am hoping to use it in the game soon!

Like some other Anno 1800 game players, I am unable to play my saved games after GU16 and the last DLC releases, despite being able to play the game without issue until December 7th, right before the last update, with all the mods I downloaded! It is well known in the community that with every GU and ANNO new game release, compatibility issues will arise for ANNO gamers that use mods. So, these problems are no big deal, as we are aware that these compatibility issues take time to be sorted out and resolved. After past GU and DLC releases, I was able to play the old save games with the help of other mod users’ compatibility hints, the UBISOFT support team, and also the help provided by the mod developers themselves.

That said, I am just wondering what the plans of UBISOFT are to help gamers who enjoy playing the game with mods! Thank you, guys!

  18. h hailjmrs

The game doesn’t start anymore after the update.

I am Using Ubisoft Connect, Not Steam. That syncs settings and savegames. Starting game and then it stops.

Tried to verify files and tried offline and with cloud saves off.|

    Anyone else with this problem?

  19. T ToForce

Thank you for all the Seasons, cosmetic content and game support after all these years!!

I have only one wish.. Please, please reconsider connecting Steam Achievements to Ubisoft Connect Achievements.

I preordered it on Steam in 2019 and thought you wouldnt add it, as it wasn’t for sale back then.. But now it is back for sale, I and I bet many other Steam-User would highly appreciate it.

Surely there are even players who will hesitate to get it on Steam only because there are no Steam Achievements.
For me I have a lot of fun playing other games again with a goal to play for and Steam Achievements do the trick for me. And yes, I already have Achievements in Ubisoft Connect, but why not on all Platforms.

  20. D DavidWAnno

Hello, Is there a way to turn off having rivers on Islands, its spoils the game? Or is there a seed number that makes sure that there are no rivers? Thank you for a reply.

  21. r rainerh100

I can´t download “Old town”. It tells me that it was not available in my country (Austria). Is that a technical issue?

    Thank you!

    • C Coouge

I have the same issue. I’m just waiting for a response. Fingers crossed. ??

    • i ineedtoplay

Same here, not showing in UK.

    • H Humility925

I used normal website Ubisoft store rather than Ubisoft Connect.

  22. C Coouge

Can’t buy Old Town Pack. It’s saying “Not available in your country”
I’m in Canada. I have all the game expansions and DLCs, except Old Town Pack.

  23. H Humility925

Thank you Anno Team, Had fun for next Project!

  24. B BCessel

I have the base game and ALL DLCs and Cosmetics in the game. Do I need to buy the game again on Steam if I want to use the resources that the Community will be able to create within the game?

    • N Noxbi

No, you can keep playing via Connect or Epic.

      • B BCessel

The question would be if I could use content created by the STEAM community in my game. I haven’t seen this possibility on Steam yet, but I believe they will include it.

        • S SerikaG

If you want to see forums and pictures , i think the function is free to all.But buying it again will provide a quick entrance.
I dont think you have to buy DLCs again if you link to same ubisoft account though.I didnt try it but one of my friends pre-ordered game on steam and buy all dlcs on ubisoft.

  25. K Knupfax

Can’t wait to dive into the new content! Is it possible to add the scenarios and the story elements of the main mode playable in co-op. I think many people enjoy the game more playing with a friend.

  26. L Licenturion

The game doesn’t start anymore after the update.

Steam launched UbiSoft connect. That syncs settings and savegames. Starting game and then it stops.

Did a verify files in steam and also delete all my savegames and setting and tried offline and with cloud saves off.|

    Anyone else with this problem?

    • L Licenturion

Update: other steam users are reporting the same thing in the forums.

    • h hailjmrs

Same Problem here. I’m using Ubisoft Connect not Steam.

      • s sd808

so glad I blocked my updates through windows firewall…
