Union Update: Cosmetic DLC, Green Game Jam and Anno 1602 in Minecraft
Hello Anno Community,
We are getting closer and closer to the end of the year – only 5 days until December, how is that possible? As Annoholics, there is no better way to get ourselves prepared for the end of 2021 than looking at our end of the year plans. It is time to dive into this Union Update to find out more!
GU 13, Green Game Jam & CDLC Vibrant Cities Pack
Save the date, Annoholics: on December 14th, Game Update 13 will be released! This free update will include several more quality of life improvements and bug fixes. You might be wondering: is that all there is? And the answer is, of course, no. Game Update 13 will also include a new game mode and there is our brand new Cosmetic DLC, Vibrant Cities Pack, releasing alongside it.
Vibrant Cities Pack is the second Skins Pack released for Anno 1800, and the third and last Cosmetic DLC for this year. The theme for this CDLC was chosen by the Anno Community during our Community Vote, together with the Pedestrian Zone Pack that was released back in September. Would you like to know more about the upcoming Cosmetic DLC? Fear not, Annoholics! Next week we will have a full DevBlog dedicated to it. Visit the Anno Union on December 2nd for a full overview!
Last, as you might already know, back in June we announced our participation in the Green Game Jam, and our “sustainable cities” concept ended up winning the UNEP Choice Award! If you would like to know more about this new mode, then do not miss our Green Game Jam Overview that we will share here on the Anno Union on December 6th.
And, of course, keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook channels if you do not want to miss some juicy teasers of the upcoming content!
End of the Year Livestream
Another date to add to your calendars: on December 6th we will be live on Twitch! This time to present you the Green Game Jam mode, the Cosmetic DLC Vibrant Cities Pack, and much more! Tune in if you do not want to miss our news and a chance to hang out with the Anno Team.
Community Spotlight
Finally, our favourite part of every Union Update – the Community Spotlight!
Our first pick is this glorious Megabuild Timelapse video by HappySheep242 shared on YouTube. Minecraft ft. Anno 1602? We do not need to add anything else, go check it out!
Another video, but this one is a great guide created by Itroo Twitch. It is a three-part guide that focuses on the Stores you get access to with The High Life DLC. We are sure many of you will find this super helpful!
SouthRefrigerator553 shared this amazing collection of screenshots dedicated to New York City – we are blown away by the beauty and accuracy of this creation. Bravo!
Finally, here is a celebratory post for vonWistalia who, after ten years, finally beat all maps with 3 stars on Anno 1701 on Nintendo DS. Congrats!
That is all for today’s Union Update. We hope you are excited as we are for our End of the Year plans. If you have any question, do not hesitate to ask them in the comments below.

Are they plan to come back to steam PC? Hold off or Hold back too long from steam PC may not good thing as people from steam or steam user or die hard fan steam user may moved on.
I’m excited for the new cosmetic DLC. Definately going to buy it. That I know for sure.
But can you please make the twitch drops available again? This would be great and my most wanted feature!
I think I echo the thoughts of many fans when I ask you-When is Season 4 coming out? Am sure it will find many takers. Or if not a season, maybe an expansion pack with India/China/the East?
Then we can rest easy waiting for Anno Rome or whatever you guys have planned next for us!
Now THAT would be a fantastic session. Or maybe focus the main session of a new Anno in the East… ^^
I noticed you said last Cosmetic DLC for this year and not last Cosmetic DLC full stop… I am dearly hoping that is a hint.
Also, I second the comment someone has put about Season 4… It was this time last year that you teased Season 3, so I think I speak for everyone when I say we are hoping for Season 4. Or, even if it’s not a fully fledged ‘season’ then individual DLCs with extra gameplay content would be amazing. I would happily pay for an individual DLC set in the Far East, with the scale of Land of Lions. It doesn’t need to baked into a season, it could just be a one off… The love for this game is palpable, so if you can keep the game going longer all the better.
I’m with you on this: I quote everything!
A good portion of the community is hoping for more Anno 1800 content, but many players would rather prefer to see a new Anno… who knows 🙂 I think the ideas for new content would not lack, but I am far from understanding the whole amount of factors which come into place when taking this kind of decisions.
Anything happens I’m going to be happy, Anno 1800 has become an immortal game for me, along with the whole series!
Yeah, I would prefer the Settlers game to be finished, over new seaon for Anno 1800. There’s only so much addon content you can add to the game, while keeping it consistent. Like the arctic or Enbessa doesn’t blend that well with the main game. Adding layers upon layers will only make the game complex in a bad way and cause problems with balancing. Would be better to make a new game with place to include more content in mind rather than keep hacking more stuff into 1800
Just to make sure things are not getting mixed up: The Settlers and Anno are developed by two different teams in two different Ubisoft studios (Düsseldorf and Mainz). The development of The Settlers has nothing to do with our work on Anno – and vice versa.
They did said that last cosmetic DLC “for this year”, cause me thinking they are not done with anno 1800 yet, but however, I don’t know if it season 4, or not, it’s could be small dlc or cosmetic DLC in 2022 later on.
But whatever there may be season 4 or not is remain question, but would be more small dlc/cosmetic in next year since they said last dlc “for this year”, More likely. Otherwise they wouldn’t said for this year, or mistaken saying that if they are not planning to add more in next year.
I don’t think that is Anno 1701 on the DS, it’s a different Anno game.

Ehm, yes, I have got one: are there plans for Season 4?
